Mt. Pleasant bars partner with national safety training organization – The Morning Sun


Blue Gator Sports Pub and Grill, Blackstone Bar and Encore, The Nightclub located on and just off Broadway Street in Mt. Pleasant are conducting spectator response training to increase safety and prevent damage.

This training session will take place on Sunday, January 23 at 9 p.m. Employees from all three sites participate in the training session.

The training conversations are moderated by Haleigh Harrold from SAFE bar networka national non-profit organization focused on partnering with bars and other venues serving alcohol to increase safety.

As a demonstration of this commitment, all of their employees are participating in the SAFE Bar training conversation, putting a renewed focus on creating a safety-focused workplace culture.

the SAFE bar network The training conversation aims to teach employees in bars and other places where alcohol is served the skills to notice uncomfortable and dangerous behavior, interrupt to help, and create an environment where everyone is focused on having a fun and safe night. . Thanks to the training, 97% of participants know at least one way to prevent sexual harassment and assault.

“The training goes beyond individual active spectator skills and focuses on teaching bar, restaurant and nightclub staff how to have an ongoing conversation about noticing what concerns
behavior, effectively interrupting and supporting each other,” said Haleigh Harrold, Executive Director of the SAFE Bar Network.
